Ebe Meynckens is verhalenverteller. Soms kruipen zijn verhalen het podium op, soms blijven ze liggen op het papier, soms versmelten ze met de muziek, het verhaal kiest.

Ebe begon als danser en fysiek acteur bij o.a. Fabuleus, HetPaleis en Malpertuis. In 2024 maakte hij de overstap naar het creëren van eigen werk. Als resident bij Radar (seizoen 2024-25) werkte hij aan zijn eerste performance ‘Het kantoor van de milde verslaving.’ Later dat jaar maakte hij voor Het Kwartier en Radar ‘Het Instituut voor verantwoordelijk ouderschap.’ Onder eigen beheer lanceerde Ebe in oktober 2025 de podcast en het schrijversplatform Mens me.

Het thema van de verslaving, van de mens die verloren loopt in zichzelf en de wereld,
spelen in zijn nieuwe voorstelling opnieuw een grote rol. Met ‘Landloper van de angst, vogel voor de pijn.’ duikt Ebe twee vragen in: Leven we in een wereld die verslaving faciliteert? en Hoe kunnen we anders kijken naar het concept ‘herstel?’ Samen met OpStap, een Gentse organisatie die een thuis biedt aan zij die kampen met een verslavingsproblematiek gaat hij op zoek naar de verhalen, dromen, angsten, de antwoorden van zij die de vragen dag in dag uit zijn aan het leven. Het zijn deze gesprekken die de basis vormen voor de nieuwe theatertekst. Het is deze tekst die door acteurs Marte Lambaerts en Sem Wouters, muzikanten Nand Van Looveren en Vic Loos, met dramaturgie van Elle Meeusen en onder regie van Ebe Meynckens tot leven zal worden gewekt.

Ebe Meynckens is a storyteller. Sometimes his stories crawl onto the stage, sometimes they remain on the page, sometimes they merge with music, the story decides.

Ebe began as a dancer and physical actor with, among others, Fabuleus, HetPaleis and Malpertuis. In 2024 he made the transition to creating his own work. As a resident at Radar (season 2024–25), he worked on his first performance Het kantoor van de milde verslaving (“The Office of Gentle Addiction”). Later that year, he created Het Instituut voor verantwoordelijk ouderschap (“The Institute for Responsible Parenthood”) for Het Kwartier and Radar. Under his own initiative, Ebe launched the podcast and writers’ platform Mens me in October 2025.
The theme of addiction, of human beings who lose their way in themselves and in the world, once again plays a major role in his new performance. With Landloper van de angst, vogel voor de pijn. (“Drifter of Fear, Bird of Pain”), Ebe dives into two questions: Do we live in a world that facilitates addiction? And how can we look differently at the concept of “recovery”?
Together with OpStap, a Ghent-based organisation that offers a home to people struggling with addiction, he sets out in search of the stories, dreams, fears and answers of those who live with these questions day in, day out. These conversations form the basis of the new theatre text. It is this text that will be brought to life by actors Marte Lambaerts and Sem Wouters, musicians Nand Van Looveren and Vic Loos, with dramaturgy by Elle Meeusen and under the direction of Ebe Meynckens.
