Big Backstory is een debuutvoorstelling van artiest Julian Gypens, waarin stand-up comedy en hedendaagse dans samenkomen om de grappige en kwetsbare realiteit te onderzoeken van leven in een lichaam dat op maatschappelijk en wetenschappelijk niveau geen kont heeft. De voorstelling smijt twee tegenstrijdige kunstvormen tegen elkaar in een gedurfde evenwichtsoefening. Het verhaal van een man en zijn tragische scheiding van zijn achterwerk wordt verweven met choreografie en grappen. Kan deze komiek zich herenigen met zijn lang verloren billen, of is hij gedoemd te dansen zonder iets om mee te schudden?

Big Backstory is a solo by artist Julian Gypens, combining stand-up comedy and contemporary dance to explore the amusing and fragile reality of living in a body that on a societal and scientific level has no ass... The show smashes two contradictory art-forms together in a daring balancing act. Where the tale of a man and his tragic separation from his rear-end is woven with choreography and gags. Can this comedian reunite with his long-lost buns, or is he cursed to dance with nothing to shake?
