Melody Van Gompel (1999, she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist from Brussels and lives in Antwerp.
After studying spoken word and drama at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven, she obtained a Master's degree in Drama at KASK/School of Arts in Ghent, where she graduated in 2025 with her performance WEATHER PLEASURE.
Her artistic practice brings together movement, text, music, and visual art. She explores how human and non-human bodies can transcend one another without losing sight of their materiality. Through a carnal and sensory imagination, she opens spaces in which human and non-human bodies enter into dialogue with one another in diverse ways. A radically vulnerable movement unfolds as
A common thread runs through her creations: bodies open up, transform, and give rise to new meanings. Within these spaces, human constructions are deconstructed, making transformation not only visible but, above all, palpable. Melody is currently creating PLAY/BOY!, a solo in which a woman performs for herself and explores her own body by turning her gaze inward, thereby exposing its mechanisms.

The creation is supported by METARAGE, Merksemdok, RADAR, and Platform In De Maak, where she has been selected as a maker for 2025–2026.
In addition to her solo work, she collaborated with artists such as Astrid De Haes, Mona Thijs, and Neoza Goffin.
In these interdisciplinary dialogues, her practice deepens and broadens further. Melody explores how the body can give rise to new forms of knowledge and imagination and creates spaces for embodied, sensual, and experimental ways of becoming.
