Audrey Apers

Audrey Apers

Audrey Apers (1991, Belgian) studied at the Royal Ballet School Antwerp and subsequently obtained her bachelor's degree in Modern Theater Dance from the Amsterdam University of the Arts. From 2013 to 2017, she danced with SALLY Dance Company Maastricht, LeineRoebana Amsterdam, Arno Schuitemaker, and Romeo Castellucci. For the period 2018-2020, she was an artist in residence in the Danslab program for young artistic development at SALLY Dance Company Maastricht. During this time, she created three different works: Daydream Space, Remote, and Labour of Love. In 2023, she completed a Master's in Theater Direction at RITCS Erasmus University College Brussels. During her master's trajectory, Audrey created the performance "Gravity is a Regime," where she was both director and performer. The work playfully questions the absoluteness of gravity and other seemingly unyielding structures. In June, she presented her graduation performance "Vulcanize Me," where, as a director, she placed two female performers in the midst of an abstract volcanic landscape. They try to find space to explode, a realm where bodies rebel, and untamable women, mother goddesses, and motorbabes reign. Since her graduation, Audrey has also been active as a teacher and dramaturge.
